My Garden - My Inspiration

My allotment garden is where it all begins…

A space shaped by hard work, patience, and a love of the natural world. Led, in no small part, by my husband, a devoted and deeply knowledgeable plantsman. I happily take my place as his second in command, learning, tending, and creating alongside him.

Many years ago we took on our plot and renovated the dilapidated old greenhouse together, where now we nurture a great deal of what we eat alongside a good offering of flowers. Dahlias, in particular, hold a special place in my heart, their bold forms and colours never fail to spark ideas that later find their way into my glass work.

I’m a big advocate for being barefoot on the soil, the ultimate grounding experience. It calms my nervous system right down and takes me back to my childhood when I refused to where shoes a lot of the time. Surrounded by birdsong and the hum of bees, I find a sense of peace and clarity that’s hard to replicate anywhere else. I particularly love sneaking up on the bees and capturing them with my camera. How amazing it would be to nestle into flowers like they do.

After time spent outdoors, I return feeling energised, inspired, and ready to create again. The garden is a place of inspiration for my work and it renews me, season after season.
